between earth & sky : MX (2005 –07) is a suite of ten new works centering on Mexico City and Its surroundings, extending to the east and west coasts and the U.S. border. This series of installations continues a cycle of work initially inspired by The Other Mexico: Critique of the Pyramid, Octavio Paz’s historical, cultural and philosophical writings, which accompanied me on my first visit to Mexico in 1975. To further contextualize this project links to The Walks Series (1973-74), pond / pass /peak, kiva / temple / pyramid (1974-75), Cordoban Ceilings ( 2003 ) and other works in an exhibition at Laboratorio Arte Alameda are included.
